SANDY, NIGEL & LUNA

Sandy and Nigel came to the photographic experience with a heartfelt desire to celebrate and honour their beloved Sprocker, Luna, while she’s still in her prime. Vibrant, deeply connected to them, and full of charisma, Luna has a unique dual personality—playful and mischievous at home, yet focused and intelligent when mantrailing or doing scentwork. They wanted this artwork to capture Luna’s spirit, not just for themselves, but also to share her presence with friends and family who visit their home often. Their goal was to immortalise the love, energy, and joy Luna brings into their lives every day.

This experience helped them work through the bittersweet awareness that dogs don’t live forever. For Nigel especially, who had never had a dog before, Luna has been transformative. From the moment they chose her—“the one with the yellow collar”—she’s been his constant companion. Her soulful eyes, her sensitivity, and her playfulness have brought out a nurturing, present version of himself that he hadn’t known before. She motivates them to be more active, to enjoy the outdoors, and to live in the moment. Sandy, a lifelong dog lover, has had many dogs before—but there’s something about Luna that’s unlike any other. Her intuition and emotional sensitivity, especially when checking in on Sandy during mantrailing or comforting her young niece, have created a profound emotional bond.

Their artwork now takes pride of place in the open-plan living space above the sofa—a room they describe as the heart of the home. The piece serves as a daily source of joy, awe, and emotional connection. It captures Luna’s fun-loving side—her cheeky smile when stealing socks, her love of carrots, her sparkle in action—and also her still, soulful gaze that feels like she’s looking into your soul. It helps them reconnect to the essence of who Luna is and who they are because of her: more alive, more joyful, more present. It reminds them every day of the richness she brings to their life and inspires them to see the world through her eyes—curious, kind, and full of life.
