DEBI, RHYS & ROSIE

When Debi first brought Rosie home in 2016, she was a nervous rescue dog with a few challenges to overcome. Over time, through love and patience, Rosie transformed into the most loyal, gentle, and affectionate companion imaginable — a true best friend and constant presence in Debi’s life. Now, almost a decade later, Rosie has not only become part of the family but also an inseparable playmate to Debi’s five-year-old son, Rhys. Watching them run through the woods, play hide and seek, and paddle in the river together fills Debi’s heart with warmth and gratitude. This photographic experience was her way of pausing to capture those precious, fleeting moments — before time moves on, before life inevitably changes.

For Debi, the photo session wasn’t just about creating artwork; it was about honouring the quiet, everyday bond that makes their little family whole. Working from home, Rosie has always been by her side — keeping her feet warm under the desk, curling up on her lap when she’s feeling low, and offering comfort with her soft fur and loving eyes. After losing a previous dog two years ago, Debi understands just how important it is to preserve these memories while Rosie is still healthy and full of life. The experience helped her overcome that quiet fear of loss by celebrating the love and loyalty that define their days together.

Their finished artwork now hangs in the open-plan living area, above the TV — a space where it can be seen from anywhere in the room. Every time Debi or Rhys look at it, they’re reminded of their deep bond with Rosie: her unwavering companionship, her gentle soul, and the joy she brings into their home. It’s more than just a photograph; it’s a reflection of love, comfort, and gratitude — a visual reminder that they are a team, a family built on care and connection.

Having that artwork displayed every day has shifted Debi’s perspective. It helps her see herself with pride — as a mum doing her best, raising a kind, empathetic little boy who has learned so much about love from the dog who’s always been by his side. It reminds her to slow down, to appreciate the simple moments that fill their home with laughter and warmth. Through this, she experiences the world with a softer heart and a deeper appreciation for the loyalty and love that make life truly meaningful.
