JAYNE, CHRIS & MOLLY

Jayne and Chris wanted a photographic experience because Molly represents something much bigger to them than simply being their dog — she helped them understand what family means to them. Molly arrived at the beginning of their life together and, through some difficult and unexpected chapters, became the constant at the centre of their relationship. In their words, she helped them realise that “we are enough just as we are.” They had wanted professional photographs of the three of them for a long time, and with a house move marking the beginning of a new chapter, it finally felt like the right moment to celebrate the family they had created.

Molly is cheeky, affectionate, a “cuddle monster” and happiest when all three of them are together. Chris sometimes works away, and one of the moments Jayne loves most is watching Molly wait for him on the bottom step. As soon as he arrives, her feet start tapping, her tail begins wagging and she can barely contain herself. It is a tiny, everyday moment, but for Jayne it represents pure, unconditional love. Molly goes everywhere with them — holidays, bike rides and even paddleboarding — because life simply feels better when the three of them are together.

The photographic experience was therefore about more than preserving memories. It was about helping Jayne and Chris celebrate the family they have rather than focusing on the life they might once have imagined. Their home had previously carried expectations about what their family might eventually look like. As they prepared to move, they wanted their new home to reflect who they are today and the happiness they have found together.

They imagined their artwork in the living room, originally above the sofa, at the heart of the space where they spend their time together. More than simply filling a wall, it could make their new house feel unmistakably like their family home. Every time they see it, the artwork can reconnect them with the happiness, love, belonging and sense of purpose Molly brings them. It represents a shift from measuring their life against what they once expected it to be, to recognising and celebrating how full of love the life they actually have is.
