For Abigail and her family, the decision to have a photographic experience came from a desire to capture something that had quietly become the heart of their home—the bond between their children and their much-loved Labrador, Ruby. With a busy household, three growing children, and a home mid-renovation, life is full and fast-moving. This experience offered them a chance to pause and celebrate the connection that has been there through it all.

Ruby had been part of their family for 13 years, growing alongside the children and naturally stepping into a role that went far beyond being “just a dog.” She was a constant presence—gentle, protective, and deeply intuitive. From sitting close during those early days with a newborn, to quietly supporting each child as they grew, she created a sense of safety and calm within the home. The photoshoot allowed them to capture those everyday moments and the feeling she brought into their lives—something they would come to treasure even more deeply.

Their story is one many families will recognise—full of noise, energy, and love, with each child bringing their own personality into the mix. Within that, Ruby was the steady thread, connecting them all. She shared a particularly special bond with Abigail and her eldest daughter, Chloe, offering comfort, companionship, and those quiet moments of calm that balanced out the chaos of family life.

Their artwork now sits above the sofa, in the centre of their living space—a place where the family comes together every day. Since Ruby’s passing, it has taken on an even deeper meaning. It’s not just a beautiful piece in their home—it’s a lasting connection to her presence, her personality, and the role she played in their lives. Every time they see it, it brings a sense of warmth, love, and remembrance.

Having this displayed has become part of their daily life. It offers comfort, especially in the quieter moments, and serves as a reminder of the love and memories they shared with Ruby. It helps them reflect not on loss, but on everything she gave them—the safety, the joy, and the togetherness.

More than anything, it has helped them move forward with a sense of gratitude. To appreciate the time they had, to hold onto the feeling she brought into their home, and to recognise that the moments we capture today can become the memories that support us tomorrow.

“Thank you so much for everything. We are absolutely in love with our artwork. We cannot wait to see it in our home for us to admire everyday. Our whole experience with you has been very friendly and relaxed. You’ve accommodated our noisy and emotional family during our photoshoot and handled us with sensitivity and kindness. Thank you. “
