SARAH, FREYA & SUMME

Sarah wanted a photographic experience to celebrate the love and companionship she shares with her two dogs, Freya and Summer. Both came into her life as older dogs needing new homes, and over the last couple of years they have become an incredibly important part of her world. For Sarah, their relationship is summed up by three simple ideas: loyalty, friendship and love. She wanted to capture that connection while they are all able to enjoy it together.

Freya in particular is Sarah’s little “shadow”, following her around and regularly coming over simply to give her a hug. It is those seemingly ordinary moments that mean everything to Sarah. Her dogs provide constant companionship and unconditional affection — the reassuring feeling that wherever she is, she has two loyal friends beside her. The photographic experience gave her the opportunity to preserve that feeling rather than allowing something so familiar and precious to become just another part of everyday life.

Sarah chose to display her artwork in her sitting room, between two pieces of furniture and close to a treasured photograph of a previous dog. This creates a lovely connection between different chapters of her life and the dogs who have shared them with her.
