NINA, JARED, GOLDIE & ZARA

For Nina, Editor-in-Chief of Wunderdog magazine—a publication dedicated to championing rescue dogs and their welfare—dogs have always been more than just companions. They’ve shaped her life, her work, and even her relationship. She and her partner, Jared, first connected through their dogs—Goldie, Nina’s joyful Romanian rescue, and Zara, Jared’s gentle Podenco from Spain. What began with the dogs became something much bigger: a shared life, built around them.

Their photographic experience came at a time of change. With Nina stepping into a new chapter professionally and Zara entering her later years, they felt a strong need to pause and capture this moment—this version of their family. Like many people, they had always intended to “do something like this one day,” but life has a way of moving quickly. The experience gave them the chance to stop, reflect, and celebrate everything their dogs had brought into their lives—from the relationship they share, to the sense of purpose and connection they feel every day.

Goldie and Zara each represent something unique. Goldie, full of optimism and life, brings energy and lightness—an outlook Nina often reflects in her work advocating for rescue dogs. Zara, with her quieter, more sensitive nature, brings depth and calm. Together, they tell a story of balance, resilience, and love—one that feels deeply personal, yet universally relatable.

Their artwork was designed for their Cornwall home, in the first space you see as you walk in. It’s no longer just a wall—it’s a feeling. A moment of stillness. A reminder of who they are as a family. Every day, it brings a sense of warmth, gratitude, and perspective, replacing something ordinary with something meaningful.

Having this in their home has gently shifted their mindset. In a life filled with movement, deadlines, and change, it grounds them. It reminds them to slow down, to focus on what truly matters, and to appreciate the present rather than waiting for the “perfect time.”

More than anything, it reflects a way of seeing the world—one shaped by their dogs. A little more optimistic. A little more present. And a lot more connected to what really matters.

“I just wanted to say a huge "thank you” for our wonderful session on Friday. It made us quite emotional to see all the beautiful images at the end. The dogs slept all the way to Cornwall, undoubtedly dreaming of their newfound fame! “
